Managing Partner, Alan M. Rifkin, who also chairs the firm’s Sports and Entertainment Group, along with Arnold M. Weiner, who co-chairs the firm’s Litigation Group, headed a team of lawyers, in conjunction with Sidley Austin and Chadbourne Park, to vacate an internal MLB arbitration decision. In a petition heard before the Commercial Division of the New York Supreme Court, Justice Lawrence K. Marks vacated a decision of MLB’s Revenue Sharing Definitions Committee (RSDC) in a case involving the firm’s client, the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network. MLB’s internal arbitration decisions are rarely vacated and the case marks the first time that a decision of MLB’s RSDC has been vacated by a court.
