Maryland Governor Announces Expanded Mask Order, Travel Advisory and Freeze of Further Re-Openings

Today, Governor Larry Hogan announced an expanded mask order effective Friday, July 31, 2020 at 5:00 pm.  Masks must be worn in all indoor public settings (subject to certain exceptions) and in outdoor settings where physical distancing cannot be maintained.  Read the Governor’s Executive Order here:  Gatherings-10th-amended-7-29-20.

Governor Hogan said the State will not move to Stage Three of reopening until it is safe, prudent and backed by data and science.  He also announced a public health advisory pertaining to persons who travel to certain states.  The advisory includes: Florida, Texas, Georgia, Louisiana, Arizona, Alabama, South Carolina, Nebraska and Idaho.  Anyone who travels to those states are encouraged to receive a coronavirus test and to self-quarantine until the results are available.

The Governor’s announcement today comes on the heels of announcements last week by several local leaders related to restrictions on indoor dining and mask wearing mandates.
