Lead Lobbyist in Successful Effort to Gain Approvals for Two Offshore Wind Projects
Lead lobbyist Joel Rozner and RWL’s Government Relations and Lobbying practice group successfully assisted Orsted Offshore North America, the world’s largest offshore wind developer and developer of the world’s first offshore wind farm in 1991, in gaining approvals for two offshore wind projects. RWL originally represented Deepwater Wind which was subsequently purchased by Orsted. In 2017, Maryland’s Public Service Commission approved Skipjack 1’s application to build a 120-megawatt project and in December of 2021, the Commission approved Orsted’s application to build an additional 760 megawatts of offshore wind. Combined, these projects will generate thousands of jobs and provide hundreds of millions of dollars to the economy of Maryland including commitments to the port of Baltimore and economic development for the Eastern Shore.
